La versione D presentava un caratteristico tettuccio a "bolla", un motore Merlin e vari miglioramenti nell'armamento e nelle prestazioni. Questi caccia scortarono i bombardieri strategici americani sull'Europa occupata, spezzando l'egemonia della Luftwaffe sul fronte occidentale. Tutti i contrassegni inclusi nel set appartengono ad aerei pilotati da assi dell'USAAF come George Preddy ("CRIPES A'MIGHTY 3rd"), John D. Landers ("Big Beautiful Doll") e Leonard K. Carson ("Nooky Booky II"). Questi aerei hanno partecipato a famosi bombardamenti e combattimenti aerei su Francia, Germania e Gran Bretagna.

Modelle mit einer niedrigeren Doppelpunktzahl (z. B. 1:48, 1:32) sind größer und detailreicher. Modelle mit einer höheren Doppelpunktzahl (z. B. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) sind kleiner – ideal für Sammlungen, Dioramen oder die gemeinsame Präsentation mehrerer Modelle.
