Hobby Boss 86509 HMS Agamemnon (1/350)

The Hobby Boss 86509 HMS Agamemnon 1/350 scale plastic model kit is a unique proposition for ship modeling enthusiasts interested in reconstructing famous Royal Navy vessels from the early 20th century. The model represents the British battleship HMS Agamemnon, which was built at the Beardmore shipyard by order of the British Royal Navy. Construction began on May 15, 1905, the ship was launched on June 23, 1906, and entered service in June 1908.

HMS Agamemnon belonged to the Lord Nelson class and was the last class of pre-dreadnoughts in the Royal Navy, but unfortunately, had already become partially obsolete during construction due to the advent of the new dreadnought-type battleships. The vessel saw intensive use during World War I, for example during the attack on the Turkish fortifications in the Dardanelles Strait on February 19, 1915. Thanks to strong armor, it survived heavy enemy shelling without major damage. After the Mediterranean operations, the ship joined the Eastern Mediterranean Fleet and shot down the German Zeppelin L85 in May 1917. In 1919, it took part in the intervention against the USSR, and upon returning home, was converted into a radio-controlled target ship. It ended service in 1923 and was scrapped in 1926.

Scale
1/350

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
