Historical description:
The Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.E Tiger I tank entered service with the German army in 1942. It was renowned for its tremendous firepower – the 8.8cm KwK 36 gun was effective against all Allied tanks even at ranges over 1.5 kilometers. The Tiger I saw combat on the Western Front, in Italy, and on the Eastern Front. The "Medium Production" version was characterized, among other things, by a new commander's cupola and rubberized road wheels. Zimmerit, applied from 1943, was intended to prevent the attachment of magnetic mines by enemy infantry. A preserved example from this period is the famous "Tiger 131," on display at the Bovington Tank Museum.
Advantages and recommendation:
The Trumpeter 09539 kit is an excellent choice for experienced modelers who value maximum realism and detail. The set offers precise, multi-part tracks and realistic Zimmerit, which is rare in this class of models and adds to its collector's value. The photo-etched parts allow for even greater customization and detail replication. Also perfect for diorama enthusiasts and historical armored vehicle reconstructions from World War II.
Assembly difficulty: 4/5 – recommended for advanced modelers, requires patience and skill when working with individual track links and photo-etched elements.
