The Manshu Ki-79A is a trainer aircraft developed on the basis of the well-known Nakajima Ki-27 Nate fighter. A total of 1,329 units of all variants were produced between 1942 and 1945, facilitated by the launch of the first mass production of Japanese combat aircraft in China. The single-seat Ki-79A version was used for advanced training of Imperial Air Force pilots, playing a vital role in Japan’s strategy for preparing aircrew during the intense Pacific front campaigns. Its characteristic Hitachi engine provided a maximum speed of up to 340 km/h and a range of over 900 km, combined with compact dimensions and lightweight construction.
