Historical and Technical Information

The AIM-9J Sidewinder missile originates from the American family of missiles that were widely used by the United States Air Force and NATO allies during the Cold War period. The AIM-9J was an advanced version of the famous Sidewinder missile, introduced in the early 1970s. These missiles saw action, among others, during the Vietnam conflict and in numerous exercises and operational activities of military aviation up until the 1980s. They were mounted on fighters such as the F-4 Phantom II, A-7 Corsair II, and F-5 Tiger II.

Scale
1/32

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
