Dragon 6862 Sd.Kfz. 251/21 Ausf. D "Drilling" 1/35

The Dragon 6862 Sd.Kfz. 251/21 Ausf. D "Drilling" 1/35 scale plastic model kit is a faithful miniature of the German half-track armored personnel carrier used by the Wehrmacht during World War II. The 21 Ausf. D version, known as the "Drilling," was armed with a triple anti-aircraft MG 151/15 15mm or MG 151/20 20mm gun mount. The model allows you to recreate an icon of the late-war battles, especially on the Western and Eastern fronts in 1944-1945.

The Sd.Kfz. 251 version 21 transporter was developed in response to intense Allied air raids. Equipping it with a triple-barreled cannon significantly increased the anti-aircraft defense capability of Wehrmacht armored and mechanized units. These vehicles took part in the battles for the liberation of Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, on the Italian front, as well as in the defense of the Third Reich during the final months of the war.

  • Scale: 1/35 – ideal for detailed depiction of features.
  • User country: Germany (Third Reich).
  • Historical period: World War II (1944–1945).
  • Kit contents: high-quality plastic components, photo-etched parts for more precise detail, rubber tracks to give the model a realistic look.
  • Category: plastic model kit with photo-etched parts.
  • Build difficulty level: 4/5 – recommended for intermediate and advanced modelers.

The Dragon 6862 model stands out with accurately reproduced interior details, a realistic "Drilling" gun mount, and sharp hull details characteristic of the Ausf. D version. The use of high-quality components and photo-etched parts allows you to achieve a finished result at the highest collector level. A clear assembly manual makes it easier to put together even the most complex components, making the building process satisfying and helping you develop modeling skills.

We recommend this kit to enthusiasts of German military technology, collectors, and diorama builders of the World War II period. It is not only an impressive addition to any collection, but also a valuable tool to broaden your historical knowledge.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
